Easily the most sought-after and asked-about ski in our lineup last year, the Countach 110 hit the ground running. Turns out there is ample room between the Wildcat and Commander collections to find that oh-so-sweet Goldilocks blend of playful-charginess.

The Countach is easiest to define by what it's not -- neither a traditional hard-charging big-mountain ski nor a purely playful freestyle platform, but somewhere in between. Without metal, but certainly not lacking in brass, it can charge easily, cruise effortlessly, throw down at the drop of a hat, and still play nice when the legs are smoked and dogs are barking.

Big-mountain athletes compete on it, while everyday, average skiers love how they can just get on it and go. Everyone who steps into a pair seems to come back knowing exactly where it fits in their quiver -- relegating a few other pairs to the backburner in the process. Another season daily-driving it ourselves and many of us are sorting out what to sell, donate, or move to the garage to gather dust.

Built on the European beech and poplar core found in our more directional skis but dropping the metal in pursuit of more pop, more energy, and more compliance, the Countach sports a healthy shovel, deep tip rocker, and a low, supportive (but raised) tail. Burly enough to get anything done, but surprisingly forgiving -- as tame as it is capable.

At 110mm underfoot, it packs plenty of float for all but the deepest days while offering a surprising amount of hardpack performance -- punching well below its width and easily taking narrower skis to task in firmer conditions. Where the rubber meets the road, however, is just how supportive it is in chop while remaining surfy and surprisingly easy to pivot and slash through tight spaces and deep snow. Directional *and* playful. How you like them apples?
